Launched in 2018, CANDDID is a centre of excellence which brings together, education, training and research in the fields of neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities.

CANDDID aims to:

  • Facilitate and promote research activity amongst front line clinicians in partnership with service users and carers.
  • Create opportunities for post-graduate qualifications in intellectual disability and neuro-developmental disorders.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes.

CANDDID is based in Chester and hosted by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP). We are a specialist healthcare provider of mental health, learning disability and community physical health services.

CANDDID carries out a wide range of clinically-led research, training, education and service development consultancy activities, co-produced by people with lived experience of learning disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders either themselves or as family carers.

The driving ambition of CANDDID is that all of its activities should make a positive impact on the practice of professionals and improve the quality and experience of care and quality of life for people with learning disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders and the families.
